NAG Mod Project

This is year at RAGE, alongside the Dream Machine that NAG gives away every year, they’ll be giving away yet another MONSTER of a PC. That machine will be like no other, it’ll be entirely customised. NAG has asked me to mod and build that system. They’ve given me freedom on the setup, freedom on budget, freedom on design. They told me I could use any setup I like – any case, any PSU, any theme, etc. As you can imagine, this sparks a million ideas in the mind of a case modder, as these things usually hold us back. You could have amazing ideas for a mod, but can’t afford the R4000 for a top-end case. Fortunately, none of those issues are a concern for me… I really feel blessed to have this freedom!

Anyway, the case I ended up deciding on going with was the Lian Li PC-A77F. This case was only released overseas on the 23rd of March, and they only landed in SA a week ago, so this should be the first one on the desk of an end-user in South Africa! Furthermore, this will be the first A77F case mod on the planet! So that’s pretty exciting as well!

For the PSU, I opted to go for a Corsair HX1000W PSU. 1000W… you could power a small fishing village with that!

Both the case and PSU have arrived, and I was blown away by the case. I’ve been the proud, proud owner of the Lian-Li PC-V2000B Plus for about 2 years, and I love the case, but it’s been boxed up for a mod, so I’ve forgotten how amazing Lian-Li cases are. When I opened the box of this A77F, I was in awe of the quality. It’s really something to experience. So I took the case and PSU to the studio to have some photos taken. For this post, I’m giving you a single photo of each.

The case:

The PSU:

Photos taken by Pixel Pro Photography/Ophra Watson. Big big thanks to them for hooking me up with studio time!

Anyway, I just wanted to announce this mod here. Updates are on their way!

Hahahah. Unfortunately the NAG mod will be hosted only on the NAG website. The full log, at least :) I’ll be posting updates here, but they’ll link to the full updates on the NAG site :)

Actually I just realised, you showed me what you were going to do – lol. I’ll let you know about the electrical rotating device when I have figured it out.

  8. Phillip says:

I sent a mail to your G-mail account that explains what you should do with the rotating thing. Let me know what you think.

  9. Mario says:

What program did you use for the renderings? is it a Sketchup plugin?

  10. Phillip says:

When do we see the next update?

    Yes it is :) Kerkythea!
